Returning for their 3rd year as CHM sponsors, Ewals Cargo Care once more will be fielding a small team of its own runners, drawn from amongst the company staff. Here we highlight Liam Peters, head of the UK Charter Team, who tells us more on why he chose to run the CHM.
“I’ve joined the CHM this year as a training run for LDN Marathon. The CHM takes place at the perfect time for this, in March, with the LDN Marathon taking place 6 weeks later. I’ll be running for Oxfam as my charity in the LDN, but I’ll be collecting for my miles in the CHM as well, and have been doing lots of fundraising stuff recently such as a quiz night for 130 people and a bake sale at my workplace. It’s all going well but all donations are always welcome" You can donate here.

"For my fitness, I’ve always been a big footie player and I’m in the gym most mornings at 6 am as I start work early, but I wouldn’t say I was specifically a “fitness” person, as I’m constantly trying to out train a bad diet. For me, the exercise and activity allow me to enjoy my chocolate on the sofa in the evenings and not have to focus too heavily what I eat, so it’s a trade-off."
"For my training, probably like a lot of people I have been using some digital assistance and with the RUNNA APP I have been follow a training plan, constantly increasing the mileage week on week. I’ve built up to 3 – 4 runs a week at the moment, but I’ve just moved into a new house and it needs a full renovation, so I’m having to fit my training around that at the moment and a lot of sleep has been sacrificed to get the runs in and stay on target."
"Whilst I am training, I have done a half-marathon before, but not an official one. I had a bad night’s sleep one day and so got up early in the morning and I just went for it. I completed the distance but picked up a few niggling injuries doing it untrained, but I find with things like this it’s very much mind over matter. Looking forward to doing it prepared this time though and will look to go at my target marathon pace and try to really go for it at the end, but we’ll see at the time what’s left in the tank!"
"So, I feel ready, I know I can do it when I have to, and I’m putting in the hours so I’m really looking forward to tackling it and running alongside all the other people taking part. My partner and our toddler will be there in the crowd somewhere on the day, along with a few friends, so I’ve got every reason not to give up and to keep pushing. It should be a great event!"
